Dementi i reakcje – postponing

POSTPONING OF THE CONFERENCE
CONFERENCE HAS BEEN ENGAGED IN POLITICAL FIGHTS IN POLAND

After a very careful analysis of current situation and unfavourable atmosphere created around the international conference Dialogue among Civilisations – Towards a New Engagement of Europe” planned to take place between 17-19 of June 2005, the Board of the Polish Asia Pacific Council and the managing bodies of the Int’l Academy of Dialogue among Cultures and Civilisations, have come to a decision of postponing the conference.
The political situation before the general elections in Poland is difficult. The political fights take place on every possible platform. Our initiative, the conference series on dialogue among civilisations, that gained over the last few years big importance and interest from the side of politicians, has become one of these platforms. Both our initiative, our organisations and private persons have been engaged by the media in the political fight.
After the final consultations with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a decision has been taken to postpone the event.
The new date of the conference will be announced after consultations with our Polish and foreign partners.
Please accept our words of deep regret that we will not meet this week and we do hope to collaborate with you in the nearest future.
For the Board of Polish Asia Pacific Council Prof. Krzysztof GAWLIKOWSKI Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Conference President, Association Polish Asia Pacific Council Head of Scientific Council at Int’l Academy of Dialogue among Cultures and Civilisations
